Trip to Panama City Florida
Spring Break 2012

Imagine open water check off dives in a beautiful fresh water spring and in the Gulf of Mexico all as part of your spring break in Panama City, Florida
Upstate Scuba is planning to visit Panama City for spring break. We will spend Saturday at Morrison Spring doing our first day of open water check off dives in what is usually crystal clear fresh water. Sunday we will do the rest of the skills check-offs at St. Andrew state park in Panama City Beach. This is a beach park right on the Gulf of Mexico. We will do a couple of shore dives at the Jetties, a breakwater reputed to harbor a good variety of sea life. Afterwards feel free to spend the afternoon on the beach. St. Andrews has a store on site with beach supplies and food including pizza. Finally, Monday will include two dives on sunken ships from a boat in the Gulf of Mexico. The first dive will be on the USS Strength and will serve as our final training dive known as the “tour dive”. Following on-board paperwork and repetitive dive planning (after which certification will be complete) we will dive on the Red Sea, a large tug boat which was sunk in the recent years as part of Florida’s artificial reef program.
The diving will be half days each. The rest of the time you may spend enjoying the local scenery and tourist stops which made the Panama City area famous.
Cost is $350.00/pp. Cost includes:
- Diving
- Air Fills
- Instructional Staff
- Hotel for two nights /double occupancy (Saturday and Sunday March 17-18, 2012)
- Equipment Rental from Upstate Scuba, LLC
- Rental equipment includes: BCD, Wet Suit, Weights, Regulator and Tank

We are offering this opportunity now to our current and most recent students first. If you are currently a student the trip allows you to complete the course in time to let SCUBA be part of your spring break plans. If you are recently certified you can fully enjoy the diving without the limitations that come with check off dives. We will open this trip up to everyone starting February 10, 2012. We are currently planning for a maximum of 20 divers. If we have considerably more interest than this we will rethink the limits.

The Upstate Homeless Coalition works to help provide safe and affordable housing for low income families in our community. UHC hosts ”The Bridesmaid’s Ball” each February as an annual fundraiser. This year’s ball will be on February 18, 2012 and includes a fabulous buffet, open bar, dancing, a silent auction, and a live auction. Upstate Scuba has donated two complete scuba certifications that will be offered in the evening’s live auction.
